We can't wait to welcome you to Selby College, but first you need to enrol with us! Enrolment will be a little different this year, with social distancing and safety measures put in place.

Further Education Induction and Teaching start dates:
Tuesday 8th September Onwards: Rolling 2 Day Inductions
Wednesday 16th September: Teaching begins
Due to the COVID situation the college has reviewed how the start of the year looks for students. We are really keen to welcome you to college, make sure that you can meet all the staff who will be working with you, and help you make friends with your fellow students. We also need to ease you back into working as a student on your new programme of study. We are following the latest guidance to be able to work safely, but it is possible that guidance will continue to change in the coming weeks and months. Therefore we also need to make sure that you are equipped to allow you to work independently and, when necessary, from home. At enrolment we asked you what technology you have access to at home, and during induction we will train you how to use our systems. We will be using Google Classrooms as the main support for your learning as well as other packages. To ensure that everybody has a good initial induction and that the college can respond to any government guidance which limits our capacity on site, we are planning to hold rolling two day inductions for new students between 8th and 15th of September. Within this period you will attend for 2 consecutive days from 9.15am to 4.30pm as well as having tasks to do at home.
On Wednesday 16th September everybody will commence a normal timetable which may include an element of remote learning depending on the situation at the time. This will be finalised during initial induction. There are no plans to change term dates beyond this at the current time.
On your first day you should bring your usual writing materials - pens, pencils, ruler etc, and you will be issued with your Student ID Card and lanyard. This will allow you to access the Learning Resource Centre and computer systems and all other College services such as Student Admin, the refectory and Coffee Shop etc.
When you start at College during the first few weeks we’ll make sure you settle in, can find your way around, and know how everything works at Selby College. We will also continue to work with you to make sure you are on the right programme. If we have any concerns we’ll discuss them with you. Likewise, if you have any concerns, please let us know as soon as possible through your Guidance and Support Tutor (this person will provide day-to-day support for you throughout your time at College). Our students tell us Selby College is friendly, welcoming and a great place to study! We really look forward to meeting you and are sure that you will have an enjoyable and successful time here.
To ensure that everybody has a good initial induction and that the college can respond to any government guidance in September which limits our capacity on site, we are planning to hold two return days for second years followed by two day inductions for new students.
On Friday 4th September we will welcome back A Level and Level 3 Information Technology students.
On Monday 7th September we will welcome back all other Level 3 second year students.
On these days you will have a digital refresher, receive your timetables, and work with course staff and GST to ensure that you are ready for the coming year. You will be set up to then continue working while first years have their inductions.
On Wednesday 16th September everybody will commence a normal timetable which may include an element of remote learning depending on the situation at the time. This will be finalised in September.
There are no plans to change advertised term dates beyond this at the current time. We look forward to seeing you next term and will advise you if plans change in the meantime.
