Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Assessment: 90% Coursework,10% Exam
Entry Requirements: Standard Level 2 entry requirements apply – 4 GCSE passes at Grade 3, to include English, Maths and Science. At least 2 GCSE subjects at Grade 3 are required alongside alternative GCSE qualifications. Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

This one-year course is designed to allow you to gain a good grounding and develop skills within the Electrical and Electronic Engineering sector.

The course is particularly suitable for you if:

  • You wish to become an Electrical Engineer.
  • You are thinking about Electrical Engineering as a career but would like some experience of the job role first, or wish to learn new skills.

Your Course

Mandatory Units:

  • Working Safely in Engineering
  • Interpreting and Using Engineering Information
  • Working Efficiently and Effectively in Engineering

Specialist Units:

  • Wiring and Testing Electrical Equipment and Circuits
  • Assembling, Wiring and Testing Electrical Panels/ Components Mounted in enclosures
  • Forming and Assembling Electrical Cable Enclosure and Support Systems

In addition, you will be expected to successfully complete a one-week work placement.

Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

Progression

On successful completion many students choose to enrol on a Full-Time Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering Technologies (Electrical route), or decide to do an Apprenticeship to earn while you learn or find work.
