Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Bricklaying

Duration: 1 year
Course Level: Level 2
Assessment: 90% Coursework, 10% Exam
Entry Requirements: Standard Level 2 Entry Requirements Apply – 4 GCSE passes at Grade 3, one of which will be in English or Maths. Neither English nor Maths will be below Grade 2. At least 2 GCSE subjects at Grade 3 are required alongside alternative GCSE equivalent qualifications. For this course you may also have a Level 1 Diploma in Basic Construction Skills. It would be advisable to have a basic understanding and experience of Bricklaying prior to starting the course. Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.

Developed in response to the industry’s request for broader training to improve the skills, knowledge and understanding of the future workforce this course provides you with an introduction to Bricklaying.

Your Course

Units:

  • Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
  • Producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
  • Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • Construct cavity walling forming masonry structures

 

Progression

Many of our students progress onto the Level 2 Extended diploma or BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction and Built Environment (providing you have achieved Grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English).
