A Level Photography students head to York's Christmas Market

Our A Level Photography students visited York recently, to try out street photography. The trip was timed to coincide with the famous York Christmas Market – the perfect setting for a variety of festive, wintery shots.

The students were joined by ex-student and professional photographer and business owner, Josey Grace. Josey provided an introduction to her work, and insight into professional practice; she spoke to the students about running a business and how to work with a varied client base. The students also had the opportunity to ask for practical tips and feedback on their photos from the day.

Paul Belshaw, Subject Area Manager and Art Tutor said ‘It is vital that our A Level students are given an insight into the world of the working photographer. They were forced to think very creative in order to take the great practical skills they have learned in college out into the real world. The need to capture images on the move in a very busy public space whilst managing the cold and the wet, was very challenging but they achieved excellent results and really benefited from Josey’s advice and supportive feedback.’
