Entry Requirements: Standard 'A' Level entry requirements apply. You will also ideally have achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE Physical Education or a Merit in BTEC Sport.

Applied Sport is a balanced course with varying assessments. It promotes deeper understanding of the aspects that affect the body in sport. Students will have practical sessions to experiment with industry standard equipment to explore and understand theory.

This course is particularly suitable if you enjoy Sport and have an interest or regularly participate in some
form of sport or training.

Your Course

You will study a variety of areas, including:

• Anatomy & Physiology
• Practical Sports Performance
• Fitness Testing & Programming for Health, Sport & Wellbeing
• Professional Development in the Sports Industry

There is an emphasis on theory which is explored in innovative and engaging ways through practical activities. Students are encouraged to embrace e-learning and the use of various types of technology.

You will also benefit from participating, both in and out of college, regularly in a sport as a performer, official or coach.

Your Future

Applied Sport is a suitable entry requirement for most Higher Education courses at Diploma or Degree Level. It is particularly helpful if you are considering a career with a sports bias, for example BSc in Sports Science, PE Teaching or Sports Therapy.

This course would also allow progression onto Higher Education at Selby College, through the BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Exercise Science.
