Selby College staff and managers were again celebrating this week when news emerged the local college was revealed highest-performing college in Yorkshire and the joint second highest-performing college in England after an FE Week survey ranked colleges on apprenticeships, helping learners find work and both learner and employer satisfaction.
The news follows last weeks’ announcement that the college was also named the best in England for getting jobseekers into employment in the latest Department for Education figures.
Allan Stewart OBE, Principal and Chief Executive said he was “delighted that the college’s focus on outstanding teaching, learning and employer engagement has been recognised in this latest accolade.”
Since the college became one of the first colleges in England to gain a full set of Outstanding grades following its last Ofsted inspection, the organisation has gone from strength to strength, working with the community to provide a range of different types of education and learning choices that meets both individual and employer needs.
Cllr Mark Crane, Leader of the Council, Selby District Council said, “I am delighted to hear the news that Selby College is once again topping the league tables, to be top across Yorkshire and the second highest performing is an excellent accolade. My congratulations to Allan Stewart and his hard working team. Selby is proud.”
Over the past few years, the college has seen its Apprenticeship programmes grow significantly as local employers recognise the quality of the training provided and young people seeing the high rates of learners gaining employment after being on one of our programmes, apply to access the wide range of courses offered.
