- Doing What? Running a successful Cattery
Former Selby High School pupil Liz Burman was one of the first students to benefit from Selby College when it opened its doors back in 1984. Since then she has never looked back and having enjoyed a number of successful positions across a range of businesses including Banking and Social Services, she is now fulfilling her dream of running her own cattery.
Liz, who now lives in Lincolnshire, said; “I always wanted to work with animals and now I have achieved it I love coming to work.”
The Cattery, which opened in 2009, has gone from strength to strength, undergoing a series of expansions and receiving national recognition in a number of industry publications as well as winning the 2015 Pet Industry Federation’s Cattery of the Year award!
She said: “I am overwhelmed, the award is huge for us and we can legitimately call ourselves the number one cattery in the UK, but I wouldn’t have got where I am today without the great work ethic instilled in me by my tutors at Selby College.”
