Jamie Davenport… Following A Career Path Into Software Engineering

  • Class of: 2015
  • Studied: A Levels in Computing, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics
  • Doing What? Just started studying for a degree at Cambridge University. Jamie came to college from Snaith School, choosing to study A Levels in Chemistry, Computing, Further Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics. He achieved the college’s best results in 2015 with five top grades, attaining three A* grades and two A grades!

The city of Cambridge will become Jamie’s home for the next three years, where he will be studying for a degree in Computer Science.  Jamie said: “I never expected to be offered a place at Cambridge University, it’s beyond my wildest dreams!” 

Jamie is already thinking about what he would like to do after university and said, “I’d like to eventually own my own business in Software Engineering ", an area he has been interested in from a young age and is very passionate about.

He praised Selby College on Results Day saying: “All the staff have been brilliant, from help with my university application to exam preparation. I’d like to thank my teachers for all their support and encouragement over the past two years”.

Jamie’s mum Carol Sampler said: “It will be a day of celebrations, I am really proud of Jamie, it’s been a long journey from the initial application to getting the result he wanted today but it’s all been worth it!”
