Chris Holman has received many accolades in the design world since leaving Selby College and has since found his ideal job as a Designer for a masonry company in York.
Chris from Goole battled with dyslexia when he first started at Selby College in 2001 and thanks to his Lecturers' help and encouragement, flourished here. The grounding he received at Selby College on the BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design has allowed him to achieve many things in the world of design; firstly achieving a First Class Honours Degree in Graphic Design from Lincoln University and then winning first prize in a design competition run by the Royal Society of Arts.
Entrants were given a brief to design a secondary use for a tin can in a disaster zone. Chris was awarded £7000 for his design of a tin can water filter. Thanks to his study at both Selby College and Lincoln University and his impressive Royal Society of Arts achievement, Chris has now landed his dream job as a Designer for J. Rotherham Masonry in York where he designs the literature, promotional material and websites for the different brands the company has. Chris had many positive things to say about Selby College describing it as "ace". He learnt valuable skills such as interview techniques and portfolio skills.
"It was Selby College that set me up for life and gave me the drive and determination to be a Designer." Chris Holman
