Very few people can say that they’ve achieved their dream job by the time they are 21, but former Brayton High School pupil Charlotte Gaunt has done just that.
Inspired by her own education, Charlotte decided at aged 5 that she wanted to become a teacher; however she knew that the competition would be fierce which was why she chose to pursue the BTEC National in Children’s Care Learning and Development, rather than the traditional ‘A’ Level, route to university.
Charlotte explains, “Everything I learnt at Selby College about Children and how they develop gave me a bug head start at university because I had two years of practical experience to underpin the theory that others, who didn’t study a practical course, did not have. The BTEC was a natural stepping stone to teacher training.”
After graduating as the Start Huddersfield University Student of 2014 and securing her first full time teaching position Charlotte said, “At the moment I just want to be the best teacher that I can be for the children and their families because it is what they deserve.”
