Allie Cook...Found her dream job through an Apprenticeship

  • Former School: Easingwold School
  • Studied: A-Levels in Business, History and Psychology
  • Doing What? NVQ Level 2 Apprenticeship in Business Administration
When Allie Cook left school, she was completely lost as to what to do next. After a year of employment and a year at University, she decided to take her career into her own hands and seek employment in real estate, through an Apprenticeship at top-performing Selby College.

Although Allie took the initiative to pro-actively hand out her CV to Estate Agents looking for work, it was only through gathering the information she needed from Selby College about the Apprenticeships on offer that she managed to secure a place at successful local business Keith Taylor Estate Agents.

Now a valued member of the Keith Taylor team, Allie said “I decided I wanted to work in an Estate Agents because, as strange as it sounds, I’ve always had an interest in houses! After mentioning the possibility of an Apprenticeship to Keith Taylor, they got in touch and Selby College helped me get the ball rolling. I’m four months into my Apprenticeship and thanks to the help of Selby College, I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made.”  Allie hopes her Apprenticeship will give her the skills and experience she needs to complete her course and become a professional within the industry.

Selby College will be celebrating both the National Careers Week and National Apprenticeship week commencing 3rd March with events and visits from key employers and universities, including Nestle, Haribo, BBC, British Army, Leeds University and York University to name but a few!
