Alexander Partington... I Found… A career as a Creative Director

Celebrating Success with Alexander Partington

  • Former School: Brayton High School
  • Class of: 2007
  • Studied: Fine Art & Textiles

Alex originally came to Selby College to study Fine Art, he also enrolled on a number of evening classes to support his studies, in areas of interest such as Photography and Life Drawing.

After successfully completing hid Fine Art & Textiles course at Selby College, Alex went on to study a BA (Hons) Creative Advertising Degree at Leeds College of Art for three years. Following graduation Alex went to work for a few advertising agencies to gain a real insight into the industry and valuable work experience.

In his second year of University, Alex started his own Creative Design Agency called Oslo Agency. Based in Leeds, the company specialises in Digital Marketing, Social Media, Branding and Website Design. Despite an initial reluctance to pursue a career in the Arts sector, Alex remembered back to his time at Selby College, where he was given great instructions and real advice on how to move forwards in a career and how to be happy.

Alex said, “It took a lot of will and determination when starting up my business as I don’t enjoy the administration side to the job, but it is so worth it! Every day I get up and go to our converted mill in Leeds and do my dream job. I can honestly say I am very happy every day when I wake up (not many people can say that), the hard work is worth it for that alone.”

Alex added, “I would recommend studying Art & Design at Selby College to anybody who wants to learn more about design but also someone who wants to learn more about themselves.
My time at Selby College was fun, inspiring and confidence boosting, the staff gave me the faith that I needed in myself and the encouragement to follow my dreams and continue with my creative studies!”
